Article writers have advantages over others who are using other marketing channels to reach their prospective customers. By far, I’d say articles are one of the most flexible and basic type of content. It means that you could leverage them and repurpose them into many different formats.

Don’t get me wrong. Other content formats have their own places. Audio podcasts, for example, may be perceived as having higher value than one- to two- page article. What I refer to is the fact that articles are also the most basic and easiest to create.

To record 60-minute audio content, you need an outline to be able to stay on track and cover everything in that duration of time. Detailed outline can be as simple as an article draft. Shorter outlines can be turned into articles by expanding each point to 2 or 3 sentences.

You can also create several articles from that outline. I usually recommend that marketers write articles first because they are more complete version of an outline. They can post the articles to their own sites or other sites, give it away as a summary of the expanded audio content, etc. The possibility is virtually unlimited.

So if you want to leverage what you know and content that you’ve created for your business, by all means start with an article. You may need a skeleton to boot up the article. However, once it is in that format, you can repurpose it into other formats much more easier than if you just have a skeleton.

Again, audio or video may have their own advantages over text and image content, but articles are and will stay as favorable content format for many people, especially the fact that you can read a short article in shorter period amount of time. Consuming a one-hour audio content needs one-hour if you don’t skip around but some people could read much more than that in one hour.

Give people content in the format they prefer. Reach as many prospective customers as you can, especially if you can easily turn one content format to another one.
