If you’ve been marketing online for any length of time then you will know that blogging has become quite a force to be reckoned with. Everyone seems to have their own blog, whether it be to share what they know about internet marketing, or politics, or even to chronicle the life of their new puppy. There are a number of different blogging platform options available, so it’s easy to be confused as to which is the best. While most of them will serve the purpose of getting your thoughts out there, some are better than others when it comes to hosting a professional looking blog.

Blogger is a wonderful, free platform and has come a long way from where it began. It now offers bloggers much more user friendly tools and has a larger selection of templates to choose from. It’s also boasts a very simple interface that most beginners will find easy to understand. The problem, however will quickly become apparent. For instance, you don’t actually own your site. If Google (who owns Blogger) decides one day that they don’t like your blog, they can shut you down without even a warning causing you to lose everything. Not to mention the fact that you have a much smaller list of apps in comparison to WordPress’ collection of plugins.
So when deciding which platform to use, I would suggest that you start out on a hosted WordPress site. This way you have complete control of everything and you never have to worry about someone taking it away from you. Also, you will have access to a multitude of plugins and templates to help your blog stand out and run as smoothly as possible. Not to mention, it will save you the hassle of having to move from Blogger to WordPress in the future!
