The software is used to automate processes such as data entry, form filling, web scraping, file transfer, and email handling. It can also be used for more complex tasks such as screen scraping, data mining, and automating reports.
UiPath was created by Daniel Dines and Marcel Beazăr in 2015. The company is headquartered in New York City, with offices in Bucharest, London, Frankfurt, Paris, Sydney, Melbourne, Singapore, and Tokyo. As of 2019, the company has over 700 employees and 10,000 customers in over 90 countries.
UiPath has received $568 million in funding from investors including Accel Partners, CVC Capital Partners, Earlybird Venture Capital, Insight Venture Partners, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers (KPCB), Sequoia Capital China and Tiger Global Management.
In 2018, UiPath was ranked the most valuable AI startup by research firm CB Insights. The company was also ranked the 4th fastest growing company in North America on Deloitte’s Technology Fast 500 list and was named a “unicorn” startup with a valuation of over $1 billion.
In June 2019, Forbes magazine ranked UiPath as one of America’s top 50 most promising companies. In October 2019 UiPath was recognized by Comparably as having the happiest employees among mid-sized companies In December 2019 UiPath received Gartner’s highest rating for completeness of vision and ability to execute in their “Magic Quadrant for Intelligent Business Process Management Suites ” report
