Building a list takes work, whether you’re using simple or advanced email marketing. It’s not necessarily the hardest work in the world, it’s not necessarily the most complicated work in the world, but it is work that you need to be persistent and consistent with.

It also usually pays off to be pretty varied with how you build your email marketing lists. By that, I mean it makes sense to utilize as many different strategies as possible to build your list. Different strategies will target and reach different people for your email marketing newsletter, and if you only use one traffic-building method to send to your squeeze page than you’ll be missing out on plenty of potential leads.

It’s a good idea to spread out from the traditional methods and try some more unconventional methods as well, like Co-Registration, when you’re ready to do some advanced email marketing.

In my opinion and experience, co-registration is going to be one of the fastest ways out there to start building an opt in email marketing list from scratch. There are methods that work better when you already have people signed up to your list, but co-registration is all about building things up when you don’t have anyone already on your list. Even if you don’t have anyone on your email marketing lists, this method still assumes that you already have your autoresponders set up and your marketing language and all that taken care of.

Co-registration is basically a method where you offer someone two or more offers at once. It’s kind of like a magazine rack principle applied to advanced email marketing. You walk into a store like Barnes and Nobles and you go to the magazine section and check that out, and then you look for the type of magazine that you want, like lifestyle magazines. Once you’ve arrived at the lifestyle magazine section you search out the magazine that you are specifically looking for and you get it.

Co-registration sites work in basically the same way, but applied to opt in email marketing. It’s like a big department store site that you go to, then you start to winnow your way down. You click into the site getting closer and closer to the actual types of topics and sites that you are interested in. As you work your way down you get to the niches and topics that you are already interested in, and then you find newsletters related to those topics that you are interested in. You find the email marketing newsletter that you are interested in and you put a little check mark next to it and you fill out your name and email address and click submit and you are automatically added to that list, without being directed to your squeeze page or anything.

This builds your list pretty quickly and does it all on autopilot, totally passively. You do have to pay for the service, however, and it’s incompatible with some autoresponder services because some think it’s too close to purchasing leads. I recommend ListOpt.com/ListBuilder, and they will tell you what autoresponder services work with their program.
