In this video, I cover a pretty undervalued tool that Microsoft Ads offers to everyone, and that’s the Microsoft Ads Intelligence Tool (formerly known as Bing Ads and the Bing Ads Intelligence Tool).
This is an amazing “addon” to your excel that can give you additional information for the keywords you are looking for and want to hone in on.
So whether you want additional very specific keyword ideas, or the exact queries that people are typing in to show your ad, this tool would be right for you.
1. The first thing you will need to do if you want to utilize this tool is go to your Microsoft Ads account, click on “Tools”, and then “Microsoft Ads Intelligence”.
You will be taken to another page where you can just download this addon to your Excel automatically.
2. Next, open up your Excel sheet, and head over to the Microsoft Ads Intelligence tab that should now be available.
There are many options and things to choose from here, and there are 5 that I use, but 6 that I cover in the video.
a) Keyword performance: this gives you a detailed look at how your keywords performed in the last day, week, or month, in terms of impressions, clicks, CTR, bid, and so on.
This will give you an accurate picture of how much demand there is for your product and whether the keywords you selected are worth using in your account.
The difference between this and the keyword planner is that the keyword planner gives you a rough average of searches over the last 12 months, whereas this tool gives you the information for the most recent time period, as well as info on CTR and bids.
Moving on to the next point…
b) Webpage keywords: this will automatically generate some keywords related to your website.
This would be pretty cool to use if you want to promote a website, but have no idea where to start, or just want to have a good starting hand of keywords…
This will dish out a ton of keywords for you to take a look at and get some ideas from.
c) Keyword expansions: this gives you some ideas that are super closely related to your keyword.
So nothing like a broad match, but different variations of your keywords that you selected, with different spellings, possible languages, word orders, and so on…
This is great if you really want to hone in on that one keyword that is performing and just get more ideas for really close variations of it without getting irrelevant searches!
d) Searches with your keyword: this will give you ideas for keywords that MUST contain your keyword.
Another useful tool if you want some more ideas for your keyword, but not just spelling variations of it, but other topics that people might be interested in revolving around your keyword(s).
e) Associated keywords: this is similar to the keyword planner tool, but more specific and more relevant to your keywords.
This will give you keywords that are fairly broadly related to your keywords you selected, but still maintain the relevance. Also great if you want even more ideas for a select group of keywords that is performing, but to get an idea for a wider range.
f) Related searches: this is a really handy tool if you want to add negative keywords and save money BEFORE starting your campaign.
This will give you an idea of what queries (searches) people are typing into bing.com to trigger your keyword and arrive at your ad.
So rather than adding negative keywords AFTER the fact and spending money on possible useless clicks, you would be able to do that BEFORE starting the campaign by getting an idea for what types of queries trigger your ads to show up.
