Akshay Kumar, Karisma Kapoor and Shilpa Shetty star in Jaanwar, a Hindi language action crime drama film directed by Suneel Darshan. The film also features Mohnish Bahl, Rati Agnihotri, Om Puri and Ashutosh Rana in supporting roles. Jaanwar was released on 22 January 1999 and became one of the highest-grossing Hindi films of that year. The story follows Shiv (Kumar), a criminal who comes to Mumbai in search of his brother. After finding his brother dead, Shiv becomes involved with the underworld and becomes a don. He also falls in love with Maya (Karisma Kapoor), a woman who is also involved with the underworld. However, things take a turn for the worse when Shiv’s rival, Baba (Ashutosh Rana), kills Maya. This sets off a series of events that lead to a climactic confrontation between the two men.
Jaanwar is an adrenaline-pumping ride through the Mumbai underworld, with Akshay Kumar giving an electrifying performance as the tough and ruthless don Shiv. The film also features some outstanding action sequences, which are choreographed by international stunt director Tony Ching Siu-tung. Jaanwar is an edge-of-your-seat entertainer that will keep you hooked till the very end.
