There are several ways you can create squeeze pages, or opt-in pages. There are also several different auto responders you can use. Some of these squeeze pages are designed to have as many people as possible sign up, so are the sign up forms used for them. The question is, are you looking to build your email marketing list based on quantity or quality of subscribers?

Is there a difference between those two, quality and quantity of subscribers? Isn’t it all a numbers game? The more subscribers you have the more you sell right? If only that was as true as the dime-a-dozen marketing gurus would like people to believe. Creating a squeeze page and getting people to sign up is not a guarantee for even coming close to making money, even though it is true that creating an effective squeeze page is the foundation for effective email marketing. How you get people to sign in and what you present them with is very important as well.

Should there be a single, double or no verification for signing up to a mailing list? Well that depends on your mindset, who you want to market to and what you want to sell. Email marketing is an art form. It is the art of being able to get people to do what you want them to do by using nothing but words. So the question is how do you get people to do what you are asking them to do? It all starts with your squeeze page and how you get people to opt-in. Here is what you should keep in mind when creating your squeeze page and getting started with building your email marketing list. That is of course if you are looking to build a quality email marketing list, not just quantity.

1. Make them verify their email subscription

It has been shown that if people have to verify their subscriptions there are less likely to hit that little “spam” button when you start sending them emails. Remember that it is your server and your email address that gets black listed.

2. Introduce yourself

Introduce yourself to your new subscriber. People have started to realize that it is not only about the information they are getting it is who they are getting the information from.

3. Make it personal!

Make a connection with your email list subscriber. If you did not formally introduce yourself when they signed up for your email list, then at least let them know who you are. Who would you rather buy from, someone you like and possibly trust or just someone sending your random emails?

4. Excessive emails do not sell more!

Just because they signed up for your mailing list they will probably not want to receive a daily email from you. Unless of course you inspire them enough to be able to get away with something like that. Think about your drive to work, how many things do you remember in detail? Same rule applies, if there are always new emails from you in your subscribers inbox… it will become the new “delete” habit and your email goes unnoticed.

Keep these four things in mind when creating your squeeze page, having people opt-in to your mailing list and when sending them the first emails. It is not about the quantity of email addresses you have, it is about the quality and how well your list responds. Build a quality list instead of a quantity list, long term it will be worth far more to you.
