Affiliate Marketing Made Simple

Affiliate Marketing is best explained by Spiderman’s Uncle Ben, when he told Peter,” With great power, comes great responsibility.”

Affiliate Marketing in and of itself is a great tool and resource. But it is a tool, just like guns, which has garnered a bad rep based off of stupid individuals using a great tool for evil and manipulation. Guns don’t kill people, people with guns shoot other people. So Affiliate Marketing is NOT a scam, even though many scam artist use the meager bit of information most of us have on Affiliate Marketing to rip us off.

DON’T TAKE SHORTCUTS!! That’s how you avoid 99% of all scam and con artists out there. They tell you they can get you making hundreds or even thousands over night or just a few days and they are ALL B.S. All they do is sell you email lists and shortcuts on how to trick search engines and crap like that. People get spam email all the time with probably the same links you will be promoting on your own page, difference is the people who visit your website do so because they trust you or at least respect your opinion. So instead of getting clicked as spam and sent to junk, you get someone willing to sit down and actually listen to what your selling, which goes a LONG way in the over-saturated sales market that we call the Internet.

THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR A LOYAL INTERNET FOLLOWING! People will only buy the products your selling or at least consider them if THEY TRUST YOU! If the last time I tried to buy something or get some information from a company was like pulling teeth, I’m not very likely to return. Adversely, if every time you review an item or recommend a service it is everything I wanted plus maybe a little more, you’ve got my loyalty.

Affiliate Marketing simply put is becoming a Internet Salesperson for 1 or more different companies that pays you a commission every time you bring them a customer. Go Daddy is a perfect example.

Say you’ve started a business and just created a new website to connect to more customers. Speaking from experience, I know that Go Daddy’s web page creator is easy, simplistic and to the point, so once your finished you’ll probably want to point other people there to build THEIR websites.

Now you’ve got two choices. You can:

A) Blab all about it to your close friends and family, tell them to visit your website, and then tell them to go to Go Daddy’s website when they are ready to build one themselves. Making you a total of $0.00.

B) Blab all about it to your close friends and family, tell them to visit your website and that you were so impressed by the cost and simplicity of Go Daddy that you decided to become an Affiliate Marketer. Inform them if they sign up through the link on your site they pay they same price, you just get a kick back from the company for promoting their product.

Sound familiar!? You’ve probably just realized how much free marketing you’ve been doing for companies when you could be getting paid! Love watching Netflix and posting what your watching on Facebook? Why not become a Netflix affiliate, and next time you post what your watching, post a link that will let people sign up for a FREE trial… AND YOU GET PAID FOR IT!

This is NOT MLM. Your never going to ask your friends and family to drop a couple hundred bucks out of pocket or come to some “party” at your house which is really just a “get-you-hyped-up-enough-to-pay-me-party”. Nor will I ask you to get all your family to stop shopping like they have ALL THEIR LIVES at the store and to do it exclusively online.

This is about getting paid to do two things you do on a regular basis: Brag and Share! I make the distinction because we usually brag to our friends but share with our family!! LOL

That is the secret behind Affiliate Marketing that the scam artist don’t want you to know; It’s all about credibility!! If my buddy posts something on Facebook and says he uses it and gives it a rave review I’m all over it! Since this is a friend of mine I take his word as gold and as long as its something I’m into (like a free trial Netflix account since I’m a movie nut!) or something I need.

But how bout when you go to buy a new car. When the Salesperson tells you they have the best deals in town do you just take their word!? Well, if you did I bet you never did it more than once!! And when your buying a home do you take the first home loan offered to you!? NO!! These companies make money with overhead. Which is a nice way of saying they make their money by the amount they can get you to overpay for the car or the high interest rate they apply to your mortgage.

Why don’t Affiliate Marketers have to pad their prices!? BECAUSE OUR OPERATING COST ARE ALMOST NON-EXISTENT. Instead of opening up a car dealership and having to deal with rental, insurance, employees and all the other costly issues, I can hook the customer up directly with the dealership. Saving myself and the customer money and headache.

MOTIVATION, MOTIVATION, AND MOTIVATION!! People want to know that you aren’t just giving them the old car salesman pitch. People don’t want to hear hype and bluster, they want the truth. Mostly they want to know why you do what you do. Do you promote a product because it pays you to? Or do you get paid to promote a product you use on a day-to-day basis anyways!?

So follow my motto,” If you don’t own IT, don’t talk about IT. If you wouldn’t buy IT, don’t sell IT!”
