rules for content marketing success:
Content marketing is a marathon, not a sprint. Joe Pulizzi, founder of the Content Marketing Institute, shares his top five rules for content marketing success.
1. Know your audience inside and out
If you don’t know your audience, you can’t create content that resonates with them. Take the time to get to know your target market – their needs, wants, fears and pain points. Only then will you be able to produce content that truly speaks to them.
2. Start with a clear strategy
Don’t just start creating content willy-nilly – have a plan and a strategy in place from the outset. Work out what kind of content you’ll create, how often you’ll publish it and where you’ll distribute it. This will save you time and effort in the long run and help you to stay focused on your goals.
3. Be consistent
One of the keys to successful content marketing is consistency. Once you’ve started creating content, make sure you keep at it on a regular basis. This could mean publishing a new blog post every week or releasing a new video every month – whatever works for you and your business. The important thing is to be consistent so that your audience knows they can rely on you for great content regularly.
4. Promote, promote, promote!
Just because you’ve created some amazing content doesn’t mean people will automatically find it – you need to promote it too! Share your content across social media, email it to your list subscribers and reach out to influencers in your industry to get them involved too. The more people who see your content, the more likely it is to succeed.
